This poster was made in order to commemorate Transgender Day of Rememberance, an annual reflection on the lives lost in the fight for transgender peoples' rights. I wanted to create something that would signify the silent struggle that transgender people go through, while also offering an uplifting message. The bird cage represents everything that keeps transgender folks down: oppression, hatred, bigotry, dysphoria.

The wording is taken from an Avett Brothers song, "Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise", and it remains one of the most important phrases in my life. The message of the poster is to remind people that suicide is never the answer, and that all it takes is for one person to love you in order for you to feel totally free, even if that person is you.
